Our Club Banner
The name of our club, West Bridgford, is incorporated in the motif on our banner, which shows the sun setting in the west over Trent Bridge and a wagon and horses traversing the ancient ford, which gave access to the City of Nottingham from the south, until rising water levels neccesitated the building of the first bridge at this strategic river crossing point. The remains of a section of the old sandstone bridge are still visible in the traffic island between Rushcliffe Borough Council's Civic Centre and County Hall. The other feature is the Rotary wheel, a registered trademark that evokes the image of a well-oiled, efficient machine, working for the service of mankind. The current blue and yellow cog with 6 spokes, 24 teeth and a keyway was developed from the original 1905 design of a wagon wheel.
