Welcome

Welcome to our Club

Welcome to the website of the Rotary Club of West Bridgford. We meet in the evenings at 7.00pm in the ROBIN HOOD SUITE at NOTTINGHAM FOREST FOOTBALL GROUND or  in the TROPHY ROOM. Please contact the secretary for details of meetings held on the 5th Wednesday in the month, as these tend to be special occasions when Rotarians' partners and guests are invited to to our Club. Our business meeting is held on the first Wednesday of the month, when there is no guest speaker. The cost of a meal, comprising main course, sweet and coffee is £11.50 and we warmly invite all Rotarians to visit our Club and enjoy the wide variety of interesting talks given by our speakers.

Our Club Banner

The name of our club, West Bridgford, is incorporated in the motif on our banner, which shows the sun setting in the west over Trent Bridge and a wagon and horses traversing the ancient ford, which gave access to the City of Nottingham from the south, until rising water levels neccesitated the building of the first bridge at this strategic river crossing point. The remains of a section of the old sandstone bridge are still visible in the traffic island between Rushcliffe Borough Council's Civic Centre and County Hall. The other feature is the Rotary wheel, a registered trademark that evokes the image of a well-oiled, efficient machine, working for the service of mankind. The current blue and yellow cog with 6 spokes, 24 teeth and a keyway was developed from the original 1905 design of a wagon wheel.
