Welcome

Introduction

Sherwood Forest meet every Wednesday at South Forest Leisure, Robin Hood Cross Roads, Edwinstowe.

Come along and see for yourself and enjoy a meal and fellowship with our Members.

We meet in the either the Bar or Banquetting Suite at 7.00pm and eat a meal from the Carvery at 7.15pm. It is modestly priced at £10.00 which includes a sweet and coffee.

After the meal and any business and notices, we usually have a visiting speaker. Please refer to the Club Calendar page to see what is on and if of interest please come along and make yourself known to us. This could be on any topic of interest except for the Third Wednesday of the month when we have a Business Meeting. This meeting is devoted to the future projects that the Club will be running as part of its Fund raisng. In addition, future Club events will also be discussed, such as visits from District Officers, our annual Charter event, etc, etc.

All are welcome to any of these meetings.

Fund Raising Event

An extract from Simon Jackson’s letter to Sherwood Forest R.C. We as a Club shall be helping by placing collection boxes in shops in and around Ollerton so we are hoping everyone will support  Simon Jackson as he tries to raise as much money as he can for our Charities.

“My name is Simon Jackson and I am a local fireman living in Ollerton. Over the past few years I have undertaken a few personal challenges to raise money for local charities.

In 2013 I undertook the London to Brighton challenge which is a 100km (63 miles approx) event for the Dukeries Community Workshop.

In 2014 I took on the Grand Union Canal Challenge , another  100km event, for the Pet Shop Girls.

This year I have entered the Mizuno Endure 24 endurance challenge with a couple of fellow fireman and would like to donate any money raised to the Rotary Club of Sherwood Forest

This is a 24 hour race run over a 5 mile loop of forest trails in the Wasing Park Estate near Reading, starting at 12pm on Saturday 13th of June and finishing on Sunday 14th. Our aim is to take on the course wearing FireKit and carrying Breathing Apparatus. This kit increases our body weight by just over 2 stones.

I will not have time to submit a piece for the Roundabout or Sherwood Life in time for the April edition but I will draft one for the May and June editions.

I generally approach friends and family for fundraising and place collection tins in local shops with some success. I had thought about approaching local businesses but am unsure of the best way to do this.”
