Hope Valley College RYLA weekend

Rotary Youth Leadership Awards

Two weeks ago Alex Monaghan and Poppy Blaxhall, from Hope Valley College were shortlisted for a competative interview for places at White Hall Outdoor Centre, Buxton, for a Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) weekend. A third candidate, Hannah Young, also impressed the judges when they interviewed pupils from Hope Valley College. Unfortunately unforeseen circumstances meant that Hannah was unable to attend the White Hall Outdoor Centre RYLA weekend.

Both Poppy and Alex participated in the entire range of challenging activities offered by White Hall Outdoor Centre, and were awarded certificates to commemorate their participation in the RYLA weekend.

Following the award ceremony Kim Armstrong, the Rotary District 1220 RYLA Coordinator, who was Rotary Supervisor at the White Hall Centre, said that both Alex and Poppy did well and were a real credit to Hope Valley College.

For some years the Rotary Club of Hope Valley have been sponsoring student candidates for these challenging RYLA weekends, and will continue to support students from Hope Valley Collage for the foreseeable future.
