Hope Valley Rotary Club celebrate a past member

A celebration and Tribute to Rotarian Eva Ollerenshaw PHF

Eva was a beloved member of Hope Valley Rotary Club and on her 80th birthday was awarded Rotary’s highest honour: a Paul Harris Fellowship. Eva died last year, and made a bequest, asking that past and present Hope Valley Rotarians meet up for dinner. Eva left £1,000 to facilitate this celebration, which was held at Cressbrook Hall on 27th September 2011.

48 Rotarians attended the three course dinner/celebration, with speeches made by Rotarians: Ian Charles; Barrie Campbell; Ron Eyley; Angus Stokes & Jane Weightman

Ian Charles brought the house down with his witty reminisces of the times he spent with Eva. Whilst the others spoke about the fond memories they had of Eva, who gave so much to the community.

It was sadness that Eva couldn’t be part of this celebration, in such wonderful surroundings. But we knew that when Eva planned this evening she will have drawn great pleasure in knowing her Rotarian friends would be meeting up to share memories.

Eva used to drive a car with the unique registration ‘4 EVA’ - see below : Hope Valley Club President Ian, with Rtn Christine Ord, remember the time when Eva drove to Rotary Club meetings with a registration number which made her and her car famous throughout the Hope Valley.
