Charity Bridge Day success

Hope Valley Rotarians were delighted with the success of their Bridge Day, held at Calver Village Hall on Sunday 10th April. The tournament attracted 72 players, who enjoyed a fun but challenging day competing in what is now an ‘annual tournament’. Once again the bridge tournament was facilitated though the efforts of Judy Elwood, wife of Rotarian David Elwood. Proceeds from the Bridge Day amounted to just over £1,300. Weston Park Hospital is one of the charities Hope Valley are assisting over the coming year, and the cash the Club raised will be used towards purchasing special chairs which can be converted into beds for visiting parents of young patients in the hospitals high tech Teenage Cancer Ward.  The day was such a success that Judy said that she would be delighted to participate in organising a similar Bridge Day in April 2012, when proceeds will once again be donated to Weston Park Hospital.
