WHY DID THE GATES FOUNDATION CHOOSE ROTARY?

As one of if not the largest single private charity in the US the Gates Foundation is not exactly short of approaches from good causes seeking support so.

WHY CHOOSE ROTARY? BECAUSE

We have set a whole new standard for what can be achieved by volunteer organisation.
Most people think that volunteer activity is limited to just down the road or round the corner - not throughout the world.
Rotary has proved there is not a problem so daunting that it cannot be overcome by people.
Rotary has created a model for what public/private partnerships can achieve.
Rotary has proved that great resources alone are not enough.
Rotary exemplifies diligence, professionalism and a business like approach.
Rotary set a new standard for what volunteers can do to influence Governments not only to contribute funds but also to engage in the cause of global health.
Rotary has proved how much can be accomplished when a group selflessly uses every ounce of it's energy to help the world's disenfranchised children
Rotary has moved the world to a position where Governments can be held responsible for the health of its people.
Rotary taught the world how to mobilise people.
Rotary is the conscience of the Polio Eradication campaign.
Rotary identified the power of collaboration.
Rotary's other partners said "Rotary is the ideal partner".
Because Rotary responded to the challenge and will fulfill it's promise

WHO SAID SO? BILL GATES SNR. TRUSTEE OF THE GATES FOUNDATION

Club Presidents will have received a form for completion and sending to DG John by 31st May. Please complete this so that we know the figures we shall achieve in 1220. Thanks.

Thank you for all your efforts for Polio Eradication.

Good Luck with all your events.

Final Quotation

A final Quote from Bill Clinton, Past President of the United States:

"I'd like to thank Rotary International, the World Health Organisation, UNICEF and the UN Foundation and, most of all, the volunteers for helping in the cause to eradicate polio".
