HISTORIC ANNOUNCEMENTS AT BRISBANE

At the RI Convention in Brisbane in June RI President Bhichai Rattakul and Rotary Foundation Trustees Chairman Glen Kinross announced that the target set the year before for Rotary to raise $80 million dollars has been achieved. In total $88, 557,00 has been raised or pledged - a magnificent achievement.
"We are proud of our commitment and rightly so" said Glen Kinross

At Brisbane Dr Shigeru Omi, from the WHO said "I can assure you that Rotary's unwavering commitment is matched by us, your closest partners, and by the leaders of the few remaining polio infected countries. I have come here directly from the WHO Assembly in Geneva, where I listened to the health leaders of India, Nigeria and Pakistan who reaffirmed their commitment to finish polio once and for all".
