This will ensure that enough funds are received in the USA to achieve:
1. The Matching Funding available from the Gates Foundation.

And Finally

Bob Carter from the Rotary Club of Beeston recently sent me his reflections about becoming a polio sufferer when he was 18. He suffered time in an iron lung and was in hospital for three months. He then wore a caliper on his leg until he had surgery on his ankle

With his permission I quote from his letter:

"The awful feature of polio is that you never recover from it. In my case I have suffered from a pretty useless right leg and back problems, so that I was never able to chase around or play football with my children".

"The thought of polio returning to this country fills me with horror. We all have a deep self interest in helping Rotary International to eradicate polio from the few remaining countries around the world, and so safeguard future generations from a dreadful crippling disease"

Final Quotation

"We have come so far, now is the time to complete the job and fulfill our promise to the children of the world"

Lewis Vicente Giay, Chairman of the International Polio Eradication Fundraising Campaign Committee.
