DISTRICT TARGET £100,000

THANK YOU.
16 Clubs spoken to!
18 booked!
District Council addressed!
We are happy to come to speak about the need for this final drive. Please contact Keith Hammond or the Group representative to arrange this.

Thank you for your invitations to speak to Clubs and the warm welcome received. I am delighted with the response that the Clubs are going to put into trying to raise the target for the District. All seem to be going to raise money for polio eradication in this final push.

I appreciate that clubs cannot give final figures at this stage but it would be immense help for the planning of the campaign around the District if you could return the "Statements of Intent", sent to you recently, indicating what figure you hope to achieve.

This information is needed so that other plans for events to raise funds can be made to cover any shortfall in the target figure can be made

Clubs contributing already:
1. Trent Bridge £2572.80
2. Bingham and District a first instalment of £500

Many thanks!

There may be others and if others have sent money already please let me know so that I can keep a record.

Cheques should be made payable to "RF UK Ltd. - Polio Eradication" and sent to RIBI, Kinwarton Road, Alcester, Warwickshire B49 6PB as soon as possible after you have raised the money. Money sent to RIBI will be forwarded to the Rotary Foundation where it will be invested and used during the next few months.

What is Polio? It is a highly infectious viral disease entering by mouth and passed through the gut. Initial symptoms are fever, fatigue, headache, vomiting, stiff neck and pain in the limbs. It can cause paralysis, which is almost always irreversible. In the most severe cases polio paralysis can lead to death by asphyxiation. There is no specific cure.

  3. Heanor is having a shop in the town for a week in September the proceeds from which will go towards polio eradication.

CAMPAIGN LAUNCH

The Mayor of the City of Derby, Robin Turner, has agreed to host the launch the Polio Eradication Campaign at the Council House in Derby on Monday 16th September at 10:30.

Invitations have been sent out and we hope for a good response from the media and those with influence in the community. The objective is to raise the public awareness of the campaign, to raise the profile of Rotary and to invite members of the General public to support the campaign. They will be asked to make contributions to the Local Rotary Club or direct to the District.

Negotiations continue re holding a similar event in Nottingham.
