A New Rotary Club, The Rotary Club of Drone Valley,
celebrated its inauguration in April 2005 with 32 founder members.
The new club – the first new Rotary Club for District 1220 for six years
– officially launched at its Inaugural Meeting on Monday April 18 at the
Sandpiper Hotel, Unstone.District Governor John Kirkland, and members
from neighbouring clubs in Rotary District 1220 including Derbyshire and
Nottinghamshire, all welcomed the new club into the family of Rotary
International.
The club, entitled the Rotary Club of Drone Valley to encapsulate its
membership and outreach to areas along the River Drone including
Dronfield and surrounding villages down to Chesterfield, is launching in
Rotary’s centenary year and will be officially chartered at its Charter
Presentation night on June 6 at Ringwood Hall.
The Rotary Club of Drone Valley is supporting the new Dronfield First
Responder Group as its charity of the year and is committed to
fundraising for the project. The new Club, headed by founder president
Dronfield GP Dr Jill Bethell, incorporates a wide variety of local
people from an array of professional and business background, and is
committed to helping and supporting the local community in any way it
can.
