A New Rotary Club, The Rotary Club of Drone Valley, celebrated its inauguration in April 2005 with 32 founder members.

The new club – the first new Rotary Club for District 1220 for six years – officially launched at its Inaugural Meeting on Monday April 18 at the Sandpiper Hotel, Unstone.

District Governor John Kirkland, and members from neighbouring clubs in Rotary District 1220 including Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire, all welcomed the new club into the family of Rotary International.

The club, entitled the Rotary Club of Drone Valley to encapsulate its membership and outreach to areas along the River Drone including Dronfield and surrounding villages down to Chesterfield, is launching in Rotary’s centenary year and will be officially chartered at its Charter Presentation night on June 6 at Ringwood Hall.

The Rotary Club of Drone Valley is supporting the new Dronfield First Responder Group as its charity of the year and is committed to fundraising for the project. The new Club, headed by founder president Dronfield GP Dr Jill Bethell, incorporates a wide variety of local people from an array of professional and business background, and is committed to helping and supporting the local community in any way it can.

The Rotary Club of Drone Valley is sponsored by The Rotary Club of Dronfield.
