Young Nottingham sports stars William Simpson, a badminton player ranked
in the top ten in England at U15 level, together with Ruth Coleman, an
England U17 badminton player, and ice skating pair Lauren Bradshaw and
Mark Hanretty, members of the GB Figure Skating team, have been awarded
grants by the Rotary Club of Carlton in association with SportsAid East
Midlands to help them achieve their sporting dreams.
The Carlton Rotary Club has generously agreed to support the talented
youngsters with awards of £250 each to help them with coaching, travel,
training and accommodation costs in their chosen sports.
SportsAid is a charity working to help talented young sportspersons
compete at the highest levels in their chosen sports. Awards are given
to competitors who are currently ranked in the top 10 nationally of
their sport or are regular members of national age group squads. Rotary,
nationally, seeks to support the celebration of achievements by young
people and considers this to be an excellent way to assist talented
sportspersons from their locality to fulfil their dreams
