20 students from year 10 at Frank Wheldon, Carlton le Willows and
Gedling Comprehensive Schools were sponsored by the Rotary Club of
Carlton on an Outward Bound Adventure week at Ullswater in Cumbria.
The aim was to fulfil personal development through challenging outdoor
activities such as, climbing, hill walking, gorge walking and caving.
During an overnight expedition in the mountains the students camped out,
cooked their own meals and learnt together about their environment.
Rotarian Howard Baker and his wife Christine accompanied the
participants during the week.
Four students were selected to attend the 21 day Classic course in
August at Aberdovey, Wales, again sponsored by the Rotary Club of
Carlton.
