Guidelines for Rotary Club Members submitting articles
for the District Magazine ‘Rotary Review’

  1. Rotary Review is published three times a year, on the occasion of the District Council Meetings (usually October, January and June). The deadline for contributions is about two weeks before publication but a later date can sometimes be accepted subject to discussion.

  2. Articles and reports are welcomed from District Officers, Clubs and Rotarians and the editor will endeavour to publish all suitable items, subject to space being available. Currently, we aim to print 16 A4 pages per edition.

  3. Major features will usually run to a full or half page. A page is composed of 800 words with 2 pics, 720 with 3 pics and 680 with 4 pics.

  4. Club contributions should be no more than 250 words in length and less if there is a photograph to accompany the article. Where there are a number of photographs covering an event, the contributor should select the one to be used and send only that one.

  5. Clubs can submit several items for consideration but it is likely that only one will be used per edition. We are looking for unusual, newsworthy club activities, particularly examples of Rotary Service in the community and working for overseas projects. It is interesting to see how clubs develop their Rotary Fellowship; photographs of Rotarians handing over cheques are not really what we want.

  6. We would like to try running a ‘Letters’ page and invite Rotarians in District 1220 to send in items. The material should not exceed 100 – 150 words.

  7. Preferably, an article should be submitted as a Word file and contain the caption to the photograph if one is included and be emailed as an attachment. The photograph should be sent as a separate jpeg file. If contributors haven’t access to the internet, the article should be submitted in a clearly printed form (do not use capitals) so that it can be scanned and converted into a word file; photographs will be returned if a SAE is included.

  8. All contributions should be sent to the District Editor, John Scotney:

PLEASE NOTE - To minimise the effect of viruses, attachments in emails to John Scotney will only be opened if they are referred to specifically in the email.
