Housing for Humanity

By the end of October 2011, donations totalling over £60,000 had been received for this project and we know that more cash is on the way. This will enable us to build over 100 houses. Building of the first batch has already started and our IPDG Val Leivers will be inspecting the first 20 completed houses on a visit to the area in the next couple of months.
The determination of all Clubs and individuals (Rotarians and others) to raise this fantastic sum is incredible and everyone involved in any way, large or small, is sincerely thanked for their magnificent efforts. We hope to have photos available for display on the website in due course.

Shelterbox aid for Turkey

ShelterBox is responding to the 7.2 magnitude earthquake that struck southeast Turkey on Sunday 23 October, with the epicentre at the village of Tabanli, 20 kilometres north of Van city.
Two hundred people have been reported as killed following the collapse of dozens of buildings across the region; with thousands more homes severely damaged and many more fatalities expected to be confirmed within the next 24 hours. ShelterBox is liaising with the Turkish Red Crescent Society and other local contacts with Mark Pearson, ShelterBox Field Operations Specialist, en-route to the affected area. For further information, please visit the shelterbox website.
