Hand Wells Project

14.10.2008

Rotarian and PDG Dr Ravi Vadlamani  of Rotary District 3150 writes:

Greetings and best wishes to you.

Dist 3150 and Dist 1220 have joined Hands together in a remarkable and outstanding project. Rotarian Terry Leivers and his wife DGN Val were determined to provide safe quality drinking water to more than 20000 people. They motivated 37 clubs of Dist 1220 and 24 individual donors to come forward and provide 33% of the project cost.

Rotary Dist 3150 with 27 participating clubs joined hands in providing 20% of the project cost and conceived the project.

The project took TWO YEARS from conception to completion.

More than 160 villages spanning eight revenue districts covering an area of more than one lac kilometres were identified for providing bore wells.

Rotary leaders travelled more than 3000 kilometres to inaugurate the hand wells.

More than 350 Rotarians participated in the project. The dedication exhibited by Rotarians of Dist 3150 is exemplary. They have identified the various places, monitored the implementation of the Hand Wells, and again went back to inaugurate the wells
ceremoniously.

Terry visited Dist 3150 as a GSE Team leader and undertook this project. A real testimony to the International Friendship and relations of Rotary. This project show cases the MAGIC OF ROTARY.

We enclose herewith the brochure/invitation for the inauguration of these Hand Wells.  2.4MB !

with regards
Dr Ravi Vadlamani
