District Conference

Thank you all for the support at Southport, a different conference at a different venue. From all the messages received and the survey it appears that you all enjoyed yourselves and liked the adjustments. We were fortunate to have superb weather and that the ladies enjoyed the shopping experience.

As a district we have one of the best-attended conferences throughout RIBI and believe this has been achieved over the years where our weekends have been varied and different. Today we must continue to move forward with new ideas. Unlike other areas of the world where conferences are legislative, we have our District Council Meetings in RIBI, the aim must be for conferences to be fun, enjoyable with quality Rotary content. Conference returns to Southport next year October and a working party set up to review conference venues in the future. John Kirkland is Chairman of this committee.

THANK YOU

A successful conference does not happen, people make it happen.

This year we had a new team and therefore a sincere thank to Conference Director DG Roy Parsons for all his hard work and dedication, ably supported by Kay. Not so easy with a new venue, new conference facilities and new hotels.
A special thank you to Adam Parsons (Roy's son who flew from Los Angeles to provide the expertise now required for our conferences.

PDG Keith Hammond assembled an excellent 'House of Friendship'. It is considered one of the best outside the RIBI Conference, thank you Keith.
Another new member of the team was Stephen Lawes our conference registration officer ably assisted by his wife Janet. This is not an easy job, congratulations Stephen for a job well done.
We introduced Power Point to conference and thank Paul Christie for all his hard work and creativity.
One final new member to the conference team was our new treasurer Mike Neville.
A special thank you to my own club members from Nottingham for acting as stewards guided by Sergeant of Arms Rex Barnett.

Seeds of Love

To the tune of 'Bonny Lassie O (Scottish)
Words by M D Pryor
First performed at District 1220 Conference Sept 2002

Will you sow a seed of love
And watch a flower grow
Will you sow a seed of love
And watch a flower grow
As a flower stands up tall
Love will grow and love is all
Will you sow a seed of love
And watch a flower grow

Will you grow a seed of love
And watch a flower bloom
Will you grow a seed of love
And watch a flower bloom
As a flower stands up tall
Love will grow and love is all
Will you grow a seed of love
And watch a flower bloom

Will you reap the seed you've sown
And bring a harvest home
Will you reap the seed you've sown
And bring a harvest home
As a flower stands up tall
Love will grow and love is all
Will you reap the seed you've sown
And bring a harvest home

Will you sow and tend and grow
So all the world may know
Will you live and laugh and love
To help a life to grow
As a flower stands up tall
Love will grow and love is all
Will you sow a seed of love
And watch a flower grow.

A special thank you to all our speakers and guests for their contribution to conference.
A special thanks to my wife Anne for all her support.
