DG David Curtis

Only two months remaining and the countdown has begun! There are eleven Charters still to celebrate and lots of other things happening including the District Quiz final, GSE Team arriving from Norway, Eric Potter Golf Competition, rearranged District Council meeting at Mansfield, Rotary and Inner Wheel Church Service, District Handover and lunch for Presidents 2006/2007 and 2007/2008.

San Diego

I know that Roger enjoyed his trip to San Diego despite not being too well there. He has come back enthused and ready for next year as shown at the District Assembly which was a great success. I, of course, wish him and indeed everyone, a happy and successful year next year.

District Council

At the last District Council meeting it was decided to dispense with the May District Council meeting and only hold three meetings per annum in future years. This means that my final message of the year will be in the District Magazine produced for the meeting rearranged for Tuesday 26th June at Mansfield.

Rotary and Inner Wheel Church Service

The Rotary and Inner Wheel Church service has had to be moved to Oxton, a lovely little village in Nottinghamshire, because of problems with hiring a village hall. The date  and time (Friday 29th June at 7:15pm) remain the same and I do hope that you will be able to attend.

Youth Activities

The District Youth Activities Committee organises a number of activities/events throughout the year including Youth Exchange, RYLA, Youth Speaks, Young Chef, Young Musician, Young Photographer and others. I would like to thank everyone involved in organising the activities. It has been good to see so many talented youngsters taking part in these and would urge those Clubs not supporting these to consider doing so in the future – an opportunity to appreciate the good work that the majority of youngsters undertake.

Jeff Curtis

My sister in law, Margaret, and I would like to thank everyone for your messages of sympathy and support following the passing to higher service of Jeff. We have appreciated these in what has been a difficult time for us. A sincere thank you.

I do wish you well for the remainder of this Rotary year and I know that ‘Service Above Self’ applies to every Club in this District. I am proud to be your District Governor.
