FLOODINGOne month has already passed in no time and what a terrible month weather wise. Our own National Disaster has hit the UK with the flooding which thankfully we have almost been spared from in D1220 except in a few localised areas where clubs are helping out. The Chesterfield Club have asked for some help for the flooding in their vicinity and Retford too are working in Bassetlaw, There is now a National Appeal for monies following RIBI President Alan’s message on the 26th July. D1220 clubs made collections at the Test Match and elsewhere. Please support where you can. Please follow the link for the latest appeal news. Immediate Past District Governor DavidI think we all agree that we owe a debt of gratitude to Immediate Past District Governor David Curtis who has been a popular Governor and I am sure will be a difficult act for me to follow. David may I thank you personally and on behalf of all of the Rotarians in D1220 for the quiet, efficient and effective way you conducted yourself during your year of office and can I particularly thank you for handing over to me the District in such a healthy state. Thank you too Susan for the support you have given. Please enjoy your retirement and congratulation on your appointment to the RIBI Finance Committee. Inner Wheel District 22I had the pleasure and honour of representing the Rotarians from 1220 and delivering our greetings to District Chairman Gloria Humphrey and the large number of the members present at the Inner Wheel Induction Day this month. Thank you very much ladies for making us so welcome and for your hospitality. It was a very interesting meeting and I feel without doubt we can learn from one another. Gloria and Extension Officer Yvonne Neville have asked me to remind our members about Inner Wheel and the membership criteria which I will ask Alex to circulate to all clubs shortly.
