To: "All 'Pilgrim' Presidents"

Our Year is marching on and I set out below a few reminders :-

My Charities :

I have only a 3 or 4 sets of bids for the total mileage I shall motor in R.I.B.I. during my year on Rotary Business for my 2 charities Cancer Research and the Children's Hospice Association (Rainbow, Loughborough and Blue Bell Hill, Doncaster.

Please let me have your bids, £1.00 per guess with as many guess's as your like, together with your cheque made out to R.I. District 1220 - remember the prize, a bottle of champagne, for the guess nearest to the mileage which I will announce at the change over evening on 2nd July 2004.

Ade Majiyagbe

I am still a number of donations short. Last October the A.G's rang those Clubs that had not contributed ( I requested that you match the personal donation that I, and all the other Governors in R.I.B.I., had made of £25.00 ). On the pledges that were received, the district Treasurer gave me a cheque for Ade's Hope Fund for the Education of Women and Children which I presented to Jonathan at the Presidential Celebration at Bradford University 4/5th November 2003. To - date many of those pledges have not been honoured and as a result this account is currently in the Red. From the pledges received, the indication that several more £100's would be forthcoming and I indicated to Jonathan that I hoped to be able to give him a further cheque at Bournemouth.

Please, if you have not already sent a donation ( Made out to R.I. District 1220 ), and you had pledged, let me have your cheque as soon as possible.

You will no doubt have received your copy of the April edition of the R.I.B.I. Magazine "ROTARY"

Could I please draw your attention to Page 8 "Dual Gender is an issue".

The General Council has received notice that some Rotarians and Clubs are not only ignoring, or being rude to, Lady Rotarians but are refusing visiting rights to them. This is not only discourteous but unconstitutional and as the article says could lead to court action.

I am not aware of any such incident in District 1220 and I sincerely hope that it will never happen.

Would you please draw all your member's attention to this article and the consequences if it does arise - the removal of a Club's Charter is the ultimate sanction and General Council will not hesitate to recommend to R.I. such action if needed to preserve the good name of Rotary.
