10th Annual Leukaemia Research Fund Bikeathon
The Rotary Club of Carlton and Leukaemia Research recently held a
special presentation evening at the Club’s venue, the Vale Social
Club at Colwick, celebrating the success of the 10th Annual
Leukaemia research Bikeathon which was held at Clumber Park,
courtesy of the National Trust on 15th May 2005.
Some 700 bikers, young and old, had
taken part and raised some £28,000 in sponsorship.
£25,200 was presented by the Joint
President of Carlton Rotary Club, Derek Ringer, to Peter Menhennet
MBE, Chairman of the Borough of Gedling Branch of Leukaemia
research.

A further cheque for £2800 was handed to
Carol White representing the National Trust at Clumber Park who was
very helpful in staging the event in a scenic and safe environment.
Shaun Bonsall of Doncaster
raised the most individual sponsorship and was awarded a
mountain bike donated by Olympic Cycles of Valley Road,
Sherwood. The team award went to Barclays bank, Doncaster,
Ladies award to Ruth Pashley of Arnold, junior award to
Harvey Green of Cheshire and a family award to Kirsty and
Jamie Foster of Burton Joyce.

All the money raised helps to
support the very important research at the City Hospital
Bone Marrow unit in Nottingham.
